Camping Chairs
Seating isn’t really necessary while camping as the ground is a legitimate option for seating. When we move into backpacking and ultralight camping we will get into other options for seats, but when car camping most people prefer an actual chair.
Camping chairs have become pretty standard. There is a basic design that most companies have adopted. That doesn’t mean there aren’t other options. There are some that look more like a papasan, some that have a foot rest, some that recline but most of the time you will see the four footed collapsible chair. Most of the fancy ones are more of a glamping thing. If you are an RVer then you may want to consider one of the fancy chairs, but they are heavy and awkward to move otherwise.
The three largest things to pay attention to are weight capacity, aesthetic, and number of cup holders.
Most of the standard chairs have a capacity of about 200 - 250 pounds although small or child size ones will be less. Then they make some heavier duty ones that go up to 500 pounds. Always look to see how many cup holders. Cheap ones I’ve seen at the gas station are typically cup holderless, while you can find some with 2.
Other than that it is all about what you want the chair to look like. They have become so popular that you can get nearly any college or sports team on them. I have seen them in all colors and even themed for the gas station Buc-ee’s, if you are from Texas, you know what I am talking about.
